Our Philosophy
The Firedoll Foundation is a private family foundation, founded by two unrepentant liberals from the 60's who still believe in the motto, "If you are not part of the solution, you're part of the problem." We are looking for ways to be part of the solution in the following areas:

Community Development and Entrepreneurship

 Immigrant Issues and Human Rights

Environmental Conservation

The Peace Process in the Middle East

Services for Survivors of Traumatic Brain Injury

As a small foundation, we want to make our money count. There is no need for us to fund projects that are popular with other donors. We are interested in identifying and addressing gaps in the traditional funding approaches. We like to see innovative approaches to the issues involved in our areas of focus. Our grants can be used for pilot projects or as leverage to get funding from other foundations.

Updated Application Information
The Community Development, Environmental Conservation, and Immigrant Issues/Human Rights programs are closed to new applicants for 2008. We cannot accept proposals from new applicants in these program areas at this time. Current Firedoll grantees may reapply for funding when their current grant year has expired. Organizations new to Firedoll Foundation that wish to apply for grants next year (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31, 2009) in any of these three program areas, may submit letters of inquiry (LOI) from Oct. 1, 2008 through Dec. 31, 2008. No proposals in these three program areas will be accepted during this period - LOI only. LOI or proposals received before Oct. 1st or after Dec. 31st will be returned.

Unfortunately, due to the very few openings in those three program areas next year, we cannot be encouraging about the prospects of a positive response; however, if you feel that your program or project is competitive, we welcome you to submit a letter of inquiry.

Grant Amounts
Typical grant amounts range from $5,000 to $25,000, with a total of $650,000 to $1,000,000 distributed during the fiscal year. If you're new to Firedoll, please do not request or expect to receive the maximum grant amount; tailor your request in the middle to low end of our grant range, depending on your need.
